CELEBRATING TEN YEARS WITH THE ADA

On Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque, poets, musicians, soccer players, singers, civic leaders, disability rights advocates and a few assorted tourists gathered to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Thanks to the collaboration of many organizations, notably, the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Legal Aid, Commission for the Blind, City and County officials, and the Albuquerque Human Rights Office, just to name a few, the event was a resounding success!

Wouldn't it be wonderful, if, on the brink of the 21st century, folks embraced the idea that we need everyone's participation to make this a better society? Just a thought..
