Do you have Medicare? Are you having a tough time paying for your Medicare out-of-pocket costs? Then programs called QMB (Qualified Medicare Beneficiary) and SLMB (Specified Low-Income Medicare Beneficiary) which cover some of these costs for people with low incomes may put some money back in your pocket. Your monthly income must be under $987 per month, but certain income is not counted. Your assets must be less than $4,000, but some assets (such as your home) are not counted. An informational forum about these programs, intended for persons with disabilities, will be held on October 23, 2001, at the Los Griegos Community Center, 1231 Candelaria NW at 1:30 p.m. Some assistance with preparing applications will also be available.
