Language Services Money Available
For bilingual families with children who are in Special Education and require
information or an assessment in their native language, please note that
each public school is allowed at least $550.00 per year as a part of the
school's translation/interpretation plan. Each school should request these
funds from the office of APS Translation/Interpretation Services. This money
is to be used for translation and interpretation services only. Unfortunately,
the deadline for applying for the yearly allowance has passed (Oct. 1999).
But, the good news is that the public school can still request money from
the program on a case by case basis by contacting the office directly. For
more information, please call Tomás Butchart, Coordinator of the
program at 256-4228.
