NEW PROGRAM AT P&A TO HELP SOCIAL SECURITY RECIPIENTS
Beginning later this spring, P&A will have a new opportunity to assist people who are receiving social security and who want to go back to work. The program is funded under a federal law known as "The Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act", which was passed by Congress in 1999. Eventually every state in the country will have a variety of options for someone to choose from when they are seeking vocational rehabilitation and employment services.
P&A's new program will be designed to help people figure out their options and to help social security beneficiaries with other advocacy services needed to secure gainful employment. The new program will also allow us to address systemic issues and problems with the state's vocational rehabilitation programs.
The actual starting date for this new program is anticipated to be April 1, 2001, so look for more information in future newsletters or on our website.
