Moving On Up
P & A was sorry to lose the valuable services of senior attorney, Greg
Trapp, in June, 1999. Greg has moved on to be the Director of the New Mexico
Commission for the Blind and will be sorely missed.
Greg joined the agency in 1992 and was promoted to senior attorney in 1998.
During his tenure at P & A, Greg had many significant accomplishments.
He was one of the attorneys on the case in which the state Supreme Court
held that time limits on the General Assistance program violated the Americans
with Disabilities Act, and was part of the lawsuit which required the State
Lottery Commission to bring all of its vendors into compliance with the
ADA. He was a significant advocate in persuading the state medicaid agency
to provide funding for augmentative communication devices for people with
disabilities, and served on the State's advisory panel for the Individuals
with Disabilities Education Act as well. He also handled a variety of individual
cases, from employment discrimination to special education matters. He was
also a consistent source of puns and jokes at staff meetings, only some
of which we will miss.
P & A wishes Greg the best of luck in his new venture serving people
with disabilities!
