PABSS: NEW PROGRAM TO SERVE RECIPIENTS OF SSI AND SSDI
We have a new program called PABSS, which stands for Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security. Through the PABSS program, we can serve people who receive SSI or SSDI and need assistance to either obtain or retain employment.
Here is a list of the kinds of services that we will provide under PABSS:
--Information and referral
--Education, outreach, and training
--Advocacy for individuals
--Investigation of complaints about providers
--Legal representation in a limited number of cases
--Systemic advocacy
What kinds of issues can we help you with? Truthfully, just about anything related to obtaining or retaining employment. Examples of issues we could assist you with include difficulties you encounter concerning vocational rehabilitation agencies (DVR, Commission for the Blind, Independent Living Centers), transportation, the Benefits Planning Assistance and Outreach programs (BPAOs), reasonable accommodations in the workplace, discrimination by employers based on disability, and health insurance.
The above list only gives a few examples of the kinds of issues we can help you address. If you receive SSI or SSDI, if you wish to obtain or retain a job, and if you have an issue or problem related to obtaining or retaining employment, then please contact us.
Note: We cannot represent you in any legal claim against the Social Security Administration (SSA). We cannot assist you with appeals of decisions made by SSA. We cannot assist you with applying for Social Security Benefits.
