Disability Rights Advocate Wins Chris Parkhurst Award

Marilyn Martinez was awarded the first annual Chris Parkhurst Award at the Independent Living Resource Center. For those of us who remember Chris, she instilled the spirit of strength, perseverance, and courage in her advocacy to make the world a better place for people with disabilities.

Marilyn carries on the tradition for Chris, but with her own unique style. In spite of the daily challenges that Marilyn meets, she continually shows us that there is great joy and triumph in doing it on one's own. Rock and roll, Marilyn!
